Scott Bensing

J. Scott Bensing is a former Executive Director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and Senate Leadership staff member. Bensing was named one of Roll Call magazine's Fabulous Fifty congressional staff members in 2007 and again in 2008.

Scott brings 15 years of Capitol Hill experience to SB Strategic Consulting. He has served in senior staff positions in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, including service as the first Chief of Staff to Senator John Ensign. Having risen to the highest levels of service in federal policy and political campaigns, Scott has proven that he is uniquely qualified to help clients navigate through the legislative and regulatory process in Washington, D.C.

Scott first came to Capitol Hill as a naval officer working for the Secretary of the Navy as a congressional liaison officer. He also served at sea during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in the first Persian Gulf War and as an Admiral's aide to the Commander of the NATO Standing Naval Force Atlantic.

Bensing is heavily involved in community efforts throughout his home state of Nevada. He currently serves as the President of the Nevada Military Support Alliance. Scott was appointed by Governor Brian Sandoval to serve as State Commissioner of the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunities for Military Children. Following Nevada’s selection by the Federal Aviation Administration as a center for the development and testing of unmanned aerial vehicles in December of 2013, Scott was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems.

In 2013, Bensing received the Patrick Henry Award for community service presented by the National Guard Association of the United States in a ceremony in Honolulu, HI.

Scott holds a B.S. degree in Political Science from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, and a Masters degree in Public Administration from The American University in Washington, D.C.

Scott lives in Reno, NV, with his wife, and they have four children.

Ryan Cherry

Ryan Cherry is a former Chief of Staff for Nevada Lieutenant Governor Mark Hutchison.

Ryan brings over 10 years of federal government, state government, and campaign experience to SB Strategic Consulting. Aside from serving in senior staff positions since 2013 for Lt. Governor Hutchison’s official office and campaign, he also recently served in the capacity of Staff Director for Governor Sandoval’s Committee on Energy Choice. Ryan’s previous experience includes 6 years with U.S. Senator Dean Heller in his congressional, campaign, and senatorial offices, in which he handled outreach throughout the state of Nevada and a portfolio that included energy and natural resources. Prior to that he also spent just under 2 years working for U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski in Washington, DC.

Ryan graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno where he earned his B.S. degree in Biology.

Ryan lives in Reno with his wife, Danielle, and their four young sons.
